This laptop is operating under Kernel version 2.6, Suse 9.3 Professional latest release

As is the case with any modern laptop I am aware of, the sticking point is always the built-in WIFI.  Little progress has been made in this area due to the fact that most vendors do not provide Linux drivers for their WIFI products.  This is also true of pcmcia wifi cards as well.  All other components work "out-of-the box."
