Installing SuSE 9.2 on Dell Inspiron 9300

Well there are lots of reasons not to use SuSE, but getting older I prefer comfortable things more an more ...
Obtaining SuSE 9.2: suse.
Installing:
the yast installation tool worked fine. I always set the default runlevel to 3 (no graphics).
Post-Install modifications/tweaks:
graphics and network did not run with the installation from DVD. Online update (with pccard network device), nvidia download and nvidia module compilation was done without any problems.

Unresolved issues

the touchpad works very sensitive, I'd like to turn off mouse click event generation
sound, wlan, power management: not tried
hd dma: it's impossible to turn it on
network device: slower then expected
