Installing Mandriva 2005 LE (Mandrake 10.2) on Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo A 7640 Turion

This laptop is operating under Kernel version 2.6.11-12mdk (see above). If operated with 2.6.11-6mdk, cpu frequency was only 800 MHz even in stationary use (w/o battery).

External USB mouse and keyboard worked without problems.

Display makes nice impression.

Without anything to do the laptop produces a moderate level of noise. Nice: with full workload the noise increases only by a small amount and stays on a constant level.

Numerical performance is a bit (about 10 percent) lower than a modern Pentium-M of equal clock rate, probably due to the smaller cache. However it is enough for most people.
